Located on 250 acres in the beautiful Hudson Valley, Omega welcomes more than 500 teachers and 23,000 people annually to its workshops, conferences, and retreats in Rhinebeck, New York and at adjunct locations. 1. The ideal candidate will have their own robust network of press/media contacts, and 2-3 years of previous PR experience at an agency or equivalent


2. Working knowledge of Cision PR Software or equivalent required; Experience with PRWeb is a plus

3. Has good understanding of social media vehicles and is comfortable drafting communications around them; Understanding of media/influencers and methods of distribution across platforms

4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and high attention to detail required; familiarity with AP style is a plus

5. Strong organizational and multitasking skills with ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines

6. Excels at research

7. Proficient with: MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel); Google Docs, Google Hangout, Skype, Uber Conference, etc.

8. Capable of working independently or in a team

9. Possesses basic understanding of holistic education field and awareness of trends in that field; Understanding of the content of Omega’s workshops

10. Alignment with Omega’s mission, goals, and core values


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Serve as initial contact for all press inquiries; Vet and arrange media opportunities for Omega’s spokespeople and faculty

2. Research publications, journalists, coverage of current events, and editorial calendars

3. Produce written materials such as press releases/media advisories, and media kit materials

4. Manage Cision database: generate target media lists, including event specific lists, for press release dissemination and pitching purposes

5. Disseminate approved press releases via wire services, and follow-up with target journalists by phone to solicit media coverage and generate interview opportunities (i.e. pitch media under the direction of the External Communications Director)

6. Capture and quantify media placements: monitor media clips via Cision software and Google alerts; Clip articles for archive binder and digital archive; Generate “Omega in the News”: A) An email with links to recent media placements; B) Add same links to "Omega in the News” section of Omega’s Media Center on website


7. Track media placements, advertising equivalency, and PR success using Cision’s analytic tools; generate quarterly reports for External Communications Director

8. Conference/event prep: assist in conference/press event prep and planning press logistics (including coordination with other departments)

9. Serve as point person/host for press visiting campus (conferences or otherwise); Give campus tours; Arrange: housing (as needed), spokesperson interviews, and itineraries

10. Stay up to date on current digital, social media and holistic education trends; support social media efforts

11. Maintain Press Center within Omega’s website (post press releases, media clips, and updated press kit materials)

12. Provide administrative support to External Communications Director, including: fielding calls, recording minutes at meetings, maintaining a small supply of media kits at all times

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


Work Details

1. This position functions in Omega’s administrative offices on the Omega campus.

2. Physical demands: This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand, as necessary. Office workers aren't expected to perform heavy lifting regularly, but they may be expected to lift a box of paper, which weighs approximately 20 pounds.

3. This is a full-time position.

4. The typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm. This schedule may vary when special needs and projects arise.

1. Bachelor’s degree or above
