The NY, Hudson-Mohawk Chapter was established in 1985 and has over 120 active members who serve as development directors, fundraising consultants, grant writers, volunteer fundraisers, foundation executives, and other individuals dedicated to fundraising and philanthropy.

The Vice President for Institute Advancement reports to the President and serves as an Officer of Rensselaer. The incumbent is responsible for developing a strategic outlook for philanthropy as well as researching, designing, cultivating, coordinating, and executing all central advancement programs. The Vice President for Institute Advancement will lead efforts related to major gift fund-raising, corporate/foundation gifts and sponsorship, planned giving, alumni relations, prospect research, prospect and donor communications, advancement events, advancement information systems, and technology platforms. SUNY Empire State College currently seeks a part-time (80%) Prospect Researcher (State Title: Staff Assistant) in our Office of External Affairs. Sep 10 - AFP's Response to National Post Article on Policing of Political Activities of Charities
(Sept. 8, 2014) Recently, Andrew Coyne penned this column in the National Post focused on the policing of political activities of charities. Coyne concluded that the best means of addressing the situation is to “take away the charitable tax designation—not selectively, based on their ability to dance on the head of a CRA pin, but across the board, outright.” The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) finds this conclusion fundamentally flawed. The charitable tax designation and the tax credit represent a gesture of confidence on the part of the people by way of their elected representatives, an acknowledgement of the effectiveness of nonprofit and community action and a commitment to the longstanding tradition of philanthropy in Canada. ... more >
